Raspberry Chia Jam

The other day I went quickly to the supermarket to do some grocerie shopping for breakfast and wanted to take some jam with me. I looked through the shelf and almost every jam included up to 50% sugar. I was aware that jam has a lot of sugar, but I never thought that almost every jam contains that much sugar. And since I had heard about Chia jam before, I thought "No, you're not going to buy one of those now. You can do it much better yourself!" - said, done. I quickly picked up a package of frozen raspberries and the fun started at home. In just 10 minutes finished cooling the jam.

Since then, this homemade jam has only been available in our home. Thanks to the chia seeds, it is also very rich in the healthy omega-3 fats that our brain needs. They also give the marmalade a nice, grainy consistency.
You don't have to use raspberries. I've often made the jam with a frozen berry mix, with frozen blueberries or strawberries - everything works great. If necessary you only have to adjust the amount of sweetener so that it doesn't get too sour.

I really like to eat them in my porridge or in the classic way on a good old sandwich!
I hope you like the recipe. I would be very happy about a rating, a comment or a link to Instagram!

Basics

Duration 15 minutes
Ingredients for 1 jar
  • 300g frozen raspberries
  • 30g chia seeds
  • 20g liquid sweetener (agave syrup, maple syrup or similar)
Preparation
  1. heat raspberries in a pot with closed lid until they become like mush, stir again and again
  2. add chia seeds and maple syrup, pour into a jar and let cool
  3. store in the refrigerator
Remarks
The jam keeps refrigerated for several days.
¹ The sweetener is absolutely not necessary. If you like it less sweet too, you can cut down on the calories. From time to time I don't use extra sweetener, depends on what I use the jam for. As a toppig in my porridge I do not need the extra sweetness, because my porridge is usually sweet enough :)
